The ‘New York Lenormand’ by Kimberly M Tsan and Robert Place is a meticulously recreated historic Lenormand oracle deck, available in two versions: one with traditional playing card correlations and another with equivalent Waite Smith Tarot cards. This deck is inspired by the original ‘Mystic Cards of Fortune’, published in 1882, and features cards redrawn to closely follow the original designs with culturally relevant modifications.

About the Creators

Kimberly M Tsan, in partnership with artist Robert Place, has brought this historic deck to life, combining historical accuracy with modern sensibilities. Robert Place’s expertise in tarot and Lenormand card artistry, along with Kimberly M Tsan’s deep understanding of Lenormand readings and historical decks, adds authenticity and depth to the project.

Deck Structure and Inspiration

Drawing inspiration from the original Hoffmann and Kroppenstedt cards of 1854, the coloring of this deck mirrors the traditional watercolor styles of the era. The playing card version of the deck features 19th-century style cards, while the Waite Smith version incorporates pips and royal cards with French suit symbols, offering a rich array of interpretations.

Card Correlations and Interpretations

The deck bridges traditional German Lenormand associations with the French occultism and Golden Dawn teachings found in the Waite Smith system, offering diverse interpretations and insights for each card.

Maintaining historical authenticity, the cards are printed on off-white paper with square edges and blank backs. The cards measure 63.5 mm by 88.9 mm and come in a white linen drawstring pouch, adding to their collectible and aesthetic appeal.
