Design and Artwork

The Maker’s Tarot, created by Kaitlyn Taylor, is an inventive tarot deck inspired by the diverse forms of artistry and creation. Each of the 78 cards uniquely represents a subcategory of art or a creative technique, correlating these with the traditional meanings of the tarot cards. The deck is based on the Rider-Waite-Smith imagery but reimagines each card to reflect various art forms like drawing, painting, stained glass, and more, making it a celebration of creativity and the creative process.

Concept and Inspiration

Kaitlyn’s inspiration for The Maker’s Tarot came from witnessing the art of traditional handmade lace, leading to the realization of the diverse ways in which one can be an artist or creator. This deck aims to resonate with a broad spectrum of creative spirits, exploring the impact of artistry on our lives and showcasing a variety of crafts.

User Experience

The deck, printed on high-quality 350gsm art paper, is designed for ease of handling and comes in a custom tuck box. A downloadable PDF guidebook will be available, with potential upgrades including a printed softcover guidebook, depending on the achievement of funding goals.

The Maker’s Tarot includes the 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana, divided into the traditional four suits of wands, cups, pentacles, and swords. While the card names are traditional, the artwork is refreshingly original, offering a new perspective on the classic tarot imagery.
