Design and Artwork
The Sefirot – The Spheres of Heaven Tarot deck, created by Georg Hobmeier, James Patton, Eliot Baum, and Viv Tanner, showcases a striking art nouveau and comic style. Its illustrations are celebrated for their elegance and refined sinuous forms. The deck is adorned with sophisticated, soft pastel tones, bringing a complex beauty to each card. Notable is the unique choice of three variations for the Lovers card, adding depth to its interpretation. The borderless design of the cards maximizes visual space, enhancing their aesthetic appeal.
Symbolism and Themes
This 80-card deck draws from a rich tapestry of inspirations, including Marseille Tarot, Judaic Kabbalah, and esoteric wisdom. Set against the backdrop of the mystical island of Dioscoria, it delves into historical and esoteric narratives, weaving a tale of an ancient game used for reflection, meditation, and divination. Each card, including the Minor Arcana Pips, is intricately designed with corresponding Hebrew letters, adding a layer of symbolic depth to the deck.
User Experience
Users commend the deck for its high-quality materials, noting the smooth matte finish and sturdy cardstock that ensure durability and ease of handling. The print quality and overall presentation, including the design of the accompanying booklet and box, are highly praised, though some wish for less cluttered box printing. The deck’s thoughtful composition and design, particularly in the Minor Arcana, are appreciated for their simplicity and elegance.
