Sacred Feminine Tarot - female archetypes within tarot structure
Most tarot decks follow the imagery that took shape in the early twentieth century. This deck takes a different approach. The Sacred Feminine Tarot keeps the structure of 78 cards but fills it with goddesses, myths and stories in which women take the lead role.
Floreana Nativo developed the system, Franco Rivolli painted the cards. The result is a deck in which the Major and Minor Arcana are translated into female archetypes from different spiritual traditions. The images are more serene than in a classic Rider-Waite deck, the colours softer.
What you see on the cards
Rivolli works with refined brushstrokes and a palette in which blue, gold and purple dominate. The figures are predominantly female and the symbolism refers to moon phases, natural cycles and goddesses from different cultures.
The cards measure 66 x 120 mm, slightly narrower than standard format. They are printed on sturdy cardstock and come in a solid storage box. The multilingual guidebook gives basic meanings in six languages, including English, French and German.
How this deck relates to traditional tarot
The structure remains recognisable: 22 Major Arcana, 56 Minor Arcana divided across four suits. What differs is the content. Where a classic deck often shows male or neutral figures, this deck deliberately chooses female representation.
That does not make it a simpler deck. The symbolism is rich and requires knowledge of different myths and traditions. The guidebook gives direction but leaves room for personal interpretation.
Draw a card at new moon or full moon and let that energy follow you. The moon symbolism in this deck works more strongly when you align with the cycle.
