Product information
Wild Lands Tarot - photography of power sites with holographic layers
Not every tarot deck is painted or drawn. This one is photographed. Leah Shoman, founder of Sacred Scribe Publishing, travelled to energetic power sites around the world and captured them with a Polaroid camera. The double exposure technique layers different locations into a single card.
The Wild Lands Tarot follows the classic 78-card structure but translates traditional symbolism into contemporary nature photography. Each card has a holographic finish that catches and refracts light.
What you see on the cards
The images are not sharp landscape photographs. The double exposures make locations overlap, creating a dreamlike, layered atmosphere. Colours are often soft and organic. The holographic foil sits in the background and reacts to how you hold the card.
The format is 103 x 81 mm, slightly wider than standard playing cards. The cardstock is sturdy. The cards sit well in your hand, though the foil makes them feel smoother than matte cardstock.
The 96-page hardcover book describes the cards and provides background on the locations shown. The text focuses on energetic meanings and personal growth. There are no spreads included.
Why this design works
Photography gives this deck a different feel from classic tarot. The images are recognisable yet abstract through the double exposure. The holographic layer strengthens that effect. This is not a deck you scan quickly. You need to hold the card for a moment to see what is on it.
The magnetic storage box is solid and protects the deck well. The whole package has a polished presentation.
Lay the cards out in daylight or under a lamp and watch how the holographic effect shifts. The visual layer changes with your perspective.
