The Baddeley Tarot

Jake Baddeley is an internationally recognised painter whose work draws heavily on the techniques of the Old Masters. He painted all 78 cards by hand, building on Hermeticism, Neoplatonism and the Eleusinian Mysteries. The 368-page guidebook works out the historical and philosophical background of each card in full.

  • Language: English
  • Quality: Luxury edition with gold foil details, 130 x 185 mm
  • Contents: 78 cards and 368-page guidebook

This is not a beginner deck: the imagery is layered and the guidebook reads more like a scholarly text on Western esoteric philosophy than a quick reference.

Jake Baddeley

After studying art in London, Jake Baddeley traveled around Europe, eventually settling in Holland and taking up oil painting. The Old Masters, such as Rembrandt and Vermeer, guided him from the walls of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the Mauritshuis in The Hague. Jake learned all he could about Dutch painting in the Golden Age and synthesized these techniques with the ideas of C. G. Jung, the role of the unconscious, and the glory of Woman.
