Mélanie Delon
Mélanie is a freelance illustrator living in a small town near Alençon (Normandy, France). She creates book cover illustrations, has worked for many publishing houses worldwide, and creates concept art for the video game industry. Mélanie also has several projects in progress for magazines specializing in 2D art.In 2007, Mélanie published her first art book, Elixir 1 — a collection of illustrations with short stories, followed by the second volume in 2010. The worlds Mélanie seeks to create through her illustrations are based on fantasy—her favorite subject—but she always adds a touch of classicism and romanticism, as she believes mixing styles brings more realism to the painting. After studying Art History and Archaeology at the Sorbonne, Mélanie attended a 3D school where she discovered digital illustration. She began working as a freelance illustrator in 2005, trading her pens and paper for Photoshop and a Wacom graphic tablet. In 2012, Mélanie decided to try something new by creating her own publishing house/shop, EXUVIA. In 2014, she released her third art book, Opale 1, under this label. The second volume will be released in 2023.Mélanie has been teaching digital painting at CGMA since 2017.
