M.J. Cullinane, also known as Margaux Jones, is an award-winning artist and writer based in Seattle, renowned for her tarot and oracle decks. Her journey into the world of tarot began during a challenging period in her life, which led to the creation of her first published deck, the Crow Tarot. This deck, infused with the mystical energy of crows and ravens, has garnered a significant following and won the 2019 CARTA award for Best Tarot Deck and Best Illustrator of a Tarot Deck. Cullinane's unique style combines elements of nature and urban life, reflecting her upbringing south of Boston and her affinity for crows and other creatures. She attended Parsons School of Design and has developed her digital collage technique over more than a decade, creating detailed and evocative artwork using a Wacom tablet and Photoshop. In addition to the Crow Tarot, Cullinane has created several other decks, including the Guardian of the Night Tarot, Grimalkin Tarot, Urban Crow Tarot, and the Wise Dog Tarot. She emphasizes the personal and intimate nature of her indie decks, which are available exclusively through pre-order and are printed in the USA. Outside of her art and writing, Cullinane enjoys spending time in nature, practicing magic, and exploring new sources of inspiration with her daughter.
