Choosing the right day with tarot cards
Some moments carry more weight than others. A wedding date, a new project, an important conversation. If you’re already thinking about timing, tarot gives you another way to consider it — through numerology and the symbolism of the Major Arcana.
Combining dates with numerology
Every date has a number, and every number corresponds to a card in the Major Arcana. The calculation is simple: add all the digits of the date together and reduce to a number between 1 and 22.
For example: 15 May 2025 becomes 1+5+5+2+0+2+5 = 20. Card 20 is Judgement — a card of renewed clarity and decisive turning points. That’s a very different energy from The Moon (18), which speaks to hidden layers and uncertainty.
Major Arcana by number
| Number | Card | Energy |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Magician | Action, willpower, new beginnings |
| 2 | The High Priestess | Patience, intuition, hidden knowledge |
| 3 | The Empress | Growth, creativity, abundance |
| 4 | The Emperor | Structure, stability, authority |
| 5 | The Hierophant | Tradition, ritual, commitment |
| 6 | The Lovers | Choice, connection, partnership |
| 7 | The Chariot | Direction, momentum, determination |
| 8 | Strength | Quiet courage, patience, composure |
| 9 | The Hermit | Reflection, solitude, discernment |
| 10 | Wheel of Fortune | Cycles, chance, shifting tides |
| 17 | The Star | Hope, healing, inspiration |
| 19 | The Sun | Clarity, joy, visible success |
| 20 | Judgement | Renewed clarity, decisive moments |
| 21 | The World | Completion, fulfilment, arrival |
Choosing a date with tarot is not prediction. It’s a way of paying attention to what you’re doing and when.
