Afro Goddess Lenormand Oracle - Afro-centric Lenormand with classical symbolism
Lenormand has a reputation for being spare, European, and visually restrained. This deck takes a different position. Andrea Furtick builds her imagery around vivid colour, cosmic backgrounds and a wide range of melanin-rich skin tones, while leaving the structural logic of the system untouched.
That last part matters. Lenormand readers are exacting about symbol recognition, especially in a Grand Tableau, where 36 cards are read all at once and the eye moves fast between images. The Tree, the Rider, the Key: they are all here and immediately readable, even across a full spread.
What you see on the cards
The illustrations feature rich, layered backgrounds with cosmic elements. Characters are depicted with diverse melanin-rich skin tones. The style is bold and colourful: this is not a neutral deck, it has a clear visual position.
Some Lenormand purists note that the busy backgrounds ask slightly more concentration when scanning a full tableau than a spare classical deck would. That is a fair observation. Readers who already know their symbols and can locate them in a fuller image will not find it a problem.
What sets this deck apart
The deck contains 37 cards. Alongside the standard 36 Lenormand cards, there is an Ankh bonus card representing spiritual rebirth. The deck also includes extra Person cards, so same-sex readings and relationships without fixed role assignments can be laid out naturally. For practical Lenormand use, that is a concrete advantage.
The cards have a matte finish, glitter gold edges and spot varnish on the backs. The box measures 92 x 145 mm; the cards themselves measure 76 x 127 mm.
The guidebook
The 92-page guidebook gives meanings for each card and covers readings in three areas: love, career and health. It also includes instructions for several spreads, including the Grand Tableau. For anyone new to the Lenormand system, the guidebook provides a concrete foundation to start working with immediately.
