Anne Stokes Gothic Oracle - 48 cards in gothic fantasy style
Anne Stokes is a name you either know or you do not. Her work appears worldwide on posters, murals, merchandise and now also on these 48 oracle cards. Dragons, faeries, unicorns, lush forests and mountains in a recognisable gothic style.
The deck is designed as an oracle, not as tarot. Each card carries a theme or archetypal image. The texts are written by Steven Bright, an author with several tarot and oracle projects to his name. Published by U.S. Games Systems.
What you see on the cards
The illustrations are digital, detailed and full of mythical creatures. The colours are intense: lots of purple, deep blue, green and dark red. The gothic atmosphere is more romantic than grim.
Backgrounds show landscapes with misty mountains, candlelight, ancient ruins and magical forests. The creatures themselves are carefully rendered, with attention to wings, scale texture and clothing.
The red gilt edges stand out immediately. The box has holographic details. The whole feels like a deluxe edition, meant to keep and handle regularly.
How the guidebook works
The guidebook runs to 114 pages, with gilded edges that match the finish of the cards. Each card gets a full page of explanation. Steven Bright describes the symbolism, gives possible interpretations and links them to intuition and inner wisdom.
The texts are written accessibly. There are no fixed oracle sayings, but descriptions that leave room for your own interpretation. The emphasis is on reflection, not prediction.
Draw a card and leave it open on your desk for a day. The images are rich enough to reveal new details each time you look.

Questions we often get
Is this a tarot deck or an oracle deck?
An oracle deck. It does not follow a tarot structure such as Major and Minor Arcana. The 48 cards each have their own theme and can be laid out in any order.
Are the cards suitable for beginners?
Yes. The guidebook gives a clear explanation for each card. The images are rich but not abstract, which makes them accessible for those just starting with oracle cards.
