Not every oracle about crystals is meant for people already working with crystals. This deck is the opposite: a teaching tool that explains the properties of 44 different gemstones through the lens of angel messages.
Doreen Virtue designed this deck with artist Marius Michael-George. Each card shows a specific angel paired with a gemstone. The guidebook describes how that stone is believed to work and the message the angel brings with it. It is more concrete than many other angel decks: not just comfort or affirmation, but information.
Michael-George works in a classical, slightly nostalgic style. The angels are painted with soft light and human faces. They have wings, but no abstract symbolism. Everything is recognizable.
Below each angel portrait is the name of a gemstone. The colours in the painting often match the colour of that stone. That makes the cards easier to remember.
The guidebook gives a short explanation for each card about the healing stone: what properties are attributed to it, what people use it for. Then follows the angel message, which often refers to those properties. Together they form guidance.
Many people use this deck not so much for daily draws, but as a knowledge base. You can browse the cards to learn which stone suits which situation. Or you draw a card and later consider whether you want to acquire that stone yourself.
If you own the physical gemstone shown on your drawn card, you can hold it while reading the message. That makes the connection more concrete.
Doreen Virtue published dozens of angel decks and books on angel therapy. Her work from the 1990s and 2000s largely shaped the genre of contemporary angel divination. In 2017 she withdrew from this field and distanced herself from her earlier work. The decks are still in circulation and still in use.
Can this deck be used if you do not speak German?
The illustrations are clear enough to interpret on their own, but the specific properties of each healing stone are only described in the German guidebook. Without that information you miss a large part of what the deck is meant to do.
Do you need to own the gemstones to use this deck?
No. The cards and guidebook provide enough information to understand the message. However, many people become interested in acquiring certain stones after using this deck.

A reconstruction of the rare Mystic Cards of Fortune from 1882. Robert M. Place brought this historical Lenormand deck back with the refined linework and 19th-century aesthetic of the original. The matte, cream-coloured cards feel like an archaeological find.
