Everyday Insight For Kids - conversation cards with rhymes and guided questions
Not all oracle cards are for adults. This deck is designed for children from about six years old and uses simple language, short rhymes and recognisable situations. Pull a card before breakfast or bedtime and you have an opening for a conversation.
The cards are created by author Maya Rabinovich and illustrator Yolain Metzger. The texts are short and direct, the illustrations colourful and friendly. Each card has a message that helps children with things they encounter: a fight with a friend, tension before a presentation, an uncertain feeling at school.
What you see on the cards
The drawing style is imaginative without being overwhelming. Soft colours, plenty of detail, and characters that children recognise immediately. Each card has a rhyme that is easy to remember.
The accompanying 40-page booklet contains conversation questions for each card. Those questions are intended for parents, teachers or coaches, but older children can also work with them independently.
How you work with it
Children can pull a card on their own, but it works better if an adult is there to start the conversation. The questions in the booklet help with that. It does not have to be a big moment. A card at the table, a question, an answer. That is often enough.
The cards are sturdy and have rounded corners. The format is smaller than standard tarot cards, which fits children's hands well.
Pull a card just before a tense moment, such as a test or a performance. The text often gives exactly the courage needed at that moment.
