Feminine Myths Oracle - 50 goddesses in faceted imagery
Some decks tell you what a goddess does. This deck shows you who she is in the moment before she becomes story. Ana Novaes paints mythological figures as if you are looking at them through a kaleidoscope: multifaceted, fragmented, and yet immediately recognizable.
The Feminine Myths Oracle gathers goddesses and feminine spirits from Greece, Ireland, Haiti, Yorubaland and Japan. Not classical portraits, but surrealist compositions in which animal, plant and element converge. Each card feels both ancient and contemporary.
What you see on the cards
The imagery is geometric and layered. Novaes works with planes that slide over each other, faces that split into profiles, and colours that are strong but not overwhelming. Animals and botanical elements are not decorative but woven into the figure itself.
The archetypes vary. You encounter the classic maiden, mother and crone, but also heroines and gender-fluid spirits. That range makes the deck more widely usable than only for questions about femininity in the traditional sense.
The cards measure 82 x 139 mm and have a matte finish. This prevents glare and keeps the images calm, even with frequent use.
How you work with it
The guidebook is compact and gives each card a poetic message and a translation into daily life. No extensive stories about the origin of each goddess, but keywords and concrete anchor points.
The rich symbolism asks for attention. You cannot quickly draw a card and move on. The images invite you to keep looking, especially at the companions: which animal is present, which element returns, how does the figure relate to the space.
Draw one card and first look only at the animals or plants in the image. Write down what they are doing, where they stand, how they relate to the figure. Only then read the guidebook.
About Ana Novaes
Ana Novaes is a Brazilian artist who previously created the Soul Mirror Oracle and the Nova Witch Tarot. Her strength lies in translating spiritual concepts into abstract but recognizable forms. Her style is minimalist in design but layered in execution.
For this deck she chose to depict goddesses not as icons, but as living archetypes still in motion.
