Patrick Valenza builds his imagery from the same materials each time: childhood dreams, crumbling cemeteries, the atmosphere of old asylums. That is the Deviant Moon universe, and he has now placed it fully inside the Lenormand system. The result looks unlike most Lenormand cards you will find anywhere.
The Classic Style Final Printing is the last production run of this specific edition. Once this stock is gone, the cards will not be reprinted in this colour palette and tin packaging.
What you see on the cards
The Classic Style works in muted browns, sepias and greys. The visual tone recalls illustrations from a forgotten storybook, or the feel of aged etchings. The moon faces that define the entire Deviant Moon universe appear on all 36 cards.
Valenza removed the playing card inserts. The small club, heart, spade and diamond markers that appear on many Lenormand cards are absent here, a deliberate choice to let the artwork run uninterrupted. Despite the artistic density, the core Lenormand symbols, the Ship, the Tree, the Scythe and the rest, remain clearly readable.
The cards are printed on 350 gsm card stock with a linen finish. That gives them a slight texture and makes them easy to shuffle. The bridge size of approximately 57 x 89 mm is smaller than a standard tarot card. That is intentional: a Grand Tableau spreads all 36 cards at once, and this size keeps the layout manageable on an ordinary table.
What sets this deck apart
Most modern Lenormand cards lean toward clean, graphic imagery or bright digital illustration. This deck moves in the opposite direction. The imagery is layered and dark, built with textures Valenza sourced from photographs of weathered stone and crumbling walls. That gives the cards a physical depth that feels handmade rather than produced.
Anyone who also owns the Trionfi Della Luna or the Deviant Moon Tarot will notice that the figures here share the same visual language. The moon faces and the surreal atmosphere connect the decks, making them work alongside each other in a single reading session.
In Lenormand, cards read as a sentence: the Ship next to the Key next to the Woman says something different depending on order and position. Valenza's Classic Style keeps that reading coherent because the palette and atmosphere hold steady across all 36 cards.
