Not every oracle deck is built for quick answers. This one asks you to slow down and look beneath the surface. Les Clés du Destin is a French-language oracle of 52 cards, created by writer Hadda Djeribi and illustrator Sonia Cavallini. It works with themes like karmic patterns, soul missions and spiritual growth.
The cards are rendered in soft pastel shades with floral accents. The imagery is dreamy, poetic, and speaks more to feeling than to reason. If you prefer hard symbols and clear lines, this may feel too diffuse. If you are looking for space to add your own meanings, you will find plenty of it here.
Sonia Cavallini studied art history and it shows. Her style is delicate, rich in floral motifs and symbols that do not give everything away at first glance. The colours are soft: lots of pink, light blue, beige, pastel green. This creates a calm appearance, but also less contrast than you see in many other decks.
The cards are large: 130 x 175 mm. That is wider than most tarot cards and requires space on the table. For a daily one-card draw it works well. For extensive spreads you need a large surface.
The book runs to 232 pages and is just as important as the cards themselves. Hadda Djeribi, who has more than ten years of experience in spiritual guidance, describes each card in depth and offers various spreads. The texts focus on introspection, not prediction. If you are looking for short keywords you will find the pace too slow. If you want to take time for reflection you get enough to work with.
The guidebook is entirely in French, as are the cards. If you do not speak the language well enough you can still work with the images, but you will miss a large part of the depth.
Draw one card, read the description a few times and let it rest for a day or two. The texts are too rich to absorb in one sitting.
The deck comes in a sturdy storage box with a separate satin bag for the cards. This is a detail that publishers do not always include, and it prevents the cards from rubbing against the cardboard. The box is solid enough to keep on a shelf without sagging.
The cards themselves feel substantial. The card stock is thick enough not to bend immediately, but supple enough to shuffle well. The finish is matte, no gloss.
Hadda Djeribi has worked as a spiritual guide for more than ten years and writes about energies, natural cycles and patterns in life paths. Her texts are contemplative and assume you will take time to sit with them.
Sonia Cavallini illustrates with a background in art history. Her style is recognisable by floral elements, soft transitions and a lack of hard lines. This makes the cards visually calming, but sometimes also less sharp in symbolism.
Does this deck work if you do not speak French?
The images speak for themselves and you can work with them intuitively, but the guidebook forms an important part of the set. Without French you miss the extensive card descriptions and spreads that Djeribi wrote.
Is this deck intended for beginners?
The guidebook is extensive enough to work with even without prior knowledge. The imagery is abstract though and asks for your own interpretation. If you prefer clear symbols, this may feel too open.
