Night Visions Tarot - dreamscape and shadow in deep blue and red
Where Light Visions Tarot seeks daylight, Night Visions descends into night. This is not a gentle beginner deck. It is a tarot that asks for willingness to go down.
James R. Eads designed this deck as the counterpart to his earlier work. Where Light Visions uses pastel colours and soft transitions, Night Visions chooses deep blue, black and metallic red. The red foil accents appear on every card and on the edges. It gives the deck a physical presence you notice the moment you open the box.
What you see on the cards
The imagery is post-impressionist, with thick brushstrokes and dreamy transitions. Eads does not draw clear lines. Figures dissolve into backgrounds, symbols drift, colours flow into one another.
The red accents are not decoration. They mark the creative spark, the life force that keeps glowing in the dark. On some cards they are flames, on others blood vessels or stars. The red contrasts sharply with the blue and draws attention to where transformation is happening.
The deck contains 79 cards. The 79th card is called 'Midnight' and is a bonus card with no fixed place in the Major or Minor Arcana. You can use it as a daily card, as a meditation focus, or simply leave it in the box.
Who this deck works for
This deck is designed for readers who already have experience with tarot and are not afraid of shadow work. The guidebook, written by Katherine Tombs, gives only upright meanings. No reversed cards, no extensive spreads. The focus is on the essence of each card.
Many people use this deck for evening readings or for questions related to the subconscious, dreams or hidden patterns. The imagery does not invite quick answers. You need to take time to see what a card does.
Draw the card 'Midnight' in the evening and place it on your nightstand. The next morning, notice what stayed with you in your dreams.

Questions we often get
Does the guidebook include reversed card meanings?
No. Katherine Tombs focuses in the guide exclusively on upright meanings. The choice is deliberate: it keeps the focus sharp.
What do you do with the 79th card?
The card 'Midnight' has no fixed function. Some readers use it as a daily card, others as a meditation focus. You can also simply leave it in the box. It is an extra, not a requirement.
