Ana Tourian has built a recognisable body of work across several decks, including Hidden Waters Tarot, Clair de Lune Lenormand and The Abyss Tarot. Oracle of Echoes is her oracle deck, now available in an expanded edition of 60 cards, ten more than the original release.
Tourian studied Painting and Drawing at Pratt Institute in New York, where she also completed her MFA in Communication Packaging Design. That combined focus on image and composition runs through everything she makes.
Ten of the sixty cards were not conceived by Tourian alone. They grew out of ideas contributed by her audience, which is how cards like The Ancestors, Imperfect Beauty and Breakthrough came to exist. That kind of collaboration is uncommon in oracle design, and it gives the deck a different kind of weight.
The deck is framed around the relationship between inner experience and daily life. The cards are intended as a tool for self-reflection rather than prediction.
A 52-page guidebook comes with the deck. The available information does not specify how detailed the card descriptions are, or whether spreads are included. Worth keeping in mind if in-depth written guidance matters to you.
The ten collaborative cards give this deck something most oracles lack: they came from real questions asked by real people, not from a single creator's vision alone.
Ana Tourian lives in New Jersey with her two children, her husband and her dog Charley. She has been reading tarot for over twenty years. Outside of deck design, she sculpts and spends time hiking.
Her training at Pratt Institute, with a BFA in Painting and Drawing and an MFA in Communication Packaging Design, is a quiet presence in her work: an eye for composition, and for the relationship between image and text.
