Powerful Women Affirmation Deck - 60 artists, 60 visual affirmations
Most affirmation sets have one artistic line. This deck has sixty. Each card in the Powerful Women Affirmation Deck is designed by a different female artist, which gives you a collection that is visually impossible to pin down in one way.
The set is compiled by Lisa den Teuling of Studio Lisa and grew out of #powerfulwomenweek, an online illustration challenge. The artists come from different countries and work in very different styles: from digital to watercolour, from line drawings to photo collage. What they share is a focus on female strength, self-acceptance and ambition.
What you see on the cards
Each card combines an affirmation with an illustration. The texts are direct: sentences about taking up space, trusting your own path, or embracing your body as it is. The images are not there as decoration, but as a translation of that message.
Because of the wide variety of styles, the deck does not feel like one statement, but like a conversation between artists. Some cards are soft and colourful, others graphic and sharp. That means you do not have the same visual association with every card.
The cards are large: 114 x 185 mm. That format is designed to do justice to the illustrations and to set the card down visibly. The set comes with a solid wooden holder in which you can place your card of the day.
How you work with it
Most people draw a card in the morning and leave it standing all day. The holder helps with that: you see the affirmation and the image over and over again, which lets the message linger.
The affirmations are written in the first person, which makes them easy to repeat out loud or silently. Some sentences feel immediately logical, others ask for a moment of pause.
Place the card somewhere you encounter it several times a day: on your desk, next to your bed, or on the kitchen table. That works better than reading it once and putting it away again.
About Lisa den Teuling
Lisa den Teuling runs Studio Lisa and started #powerfulwomenweek to give female illustration talent a platform. This deck grew out of that online challenge: a project in which sixty artists each made a card around a theme that Lisa provided.
The 60-page booklet that comes with the set contains background information about the artists and the intentions behind their illustrations. Not every card has a long explanation, but there is enough context to see where the images come from.

Questions we often get
How is this different from an oracle or tarot deck?
This is not a divination tool. The cards do not contain symbolism that you interpret, but affirmations that you repeat. The goal is not to gain insight into a situation, but to reinforce a thought pattern.
Why is the wooden holder included?
The holder is designed to visibly display your card of the day. If the card stands in front of you all day, the affirmation works better than if you read it once and put it away again. The size of the holder fits the large card format.
