Product information
Saga - 55 fairy-tale cards with no fixed meaning
Most oracle cards have fixed meanings. These do not. Saga consists of hand-painted images that leave you free to attach your own stories to them.
Each image shows a fragment: a castle, a figure, a landscape. The cards have no order and no instruction. You draw a few, lay them side by side and see what emerges.
What you see on the cards
The images are painted in soft, dreamlike colours. Lots of purple, blue, green and gold. The style is fairy-tale without being childish. Each image evokes an atmosphere, not an instruction.
Castles with towers, figures in long robes, forests and waters. The images are rich enough to work with, not so busy that they become intrusive.
How you work with them
The guidebook is brief and in German. What it says: pick up the cards, lay them down, tell what you see. There is no further guidance. That fits the design.
Many people use Saga to invent stories, alone or with others. Others use it as a conversation opener in coaching or therapy. Writers pick up the cards to unstick writing projects that have stalled.
You can also combine Saga with other cards from the OH series, such as OH, Persona or Mythos. The formats are the same, the approach similar.
Draw three cards in the morning and write a short story of three sentences about them. It forces you to see connections that were not there before.
About Ely Raman
Ely Raman was an American artist and teacher. He invented the first associative cards in the early eighties, when he noticed that people talk more easily about abstract images than about direct questions.
Saga belongs to a series he developed for OH Publishing. The emphasis is on free association, not on symbolism with fixed meanings. His work is used worldwide in education, therapy and creative workshops.

Questions we often get
Can I use these cards if I do not read German?
Yes. The guidebook is short and contains mainly examples. The cards themselves have no text, and how they work lies in what you see and think for yourself.
Are these tarot cards?
No. Saga has no structure like tarot. They are associative image cards with no fixed meanings or hierarchy.
