Seasons of the Witch: Imbolc Oracle

Imbolc falls halfway between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox, and this oracle builds directly on that in-between moment: hope, patience, and turning inward. Lorriane Anderson and Juliet Diaz created the cards, Tijana Lukovic illustrated them from her base in Ghent. Each of the 44 cards carries a short meaning and a word spell, making the oracle accessible to those with little or no experience reading cards.

  • Language: English
  • Contents: 44 oracle cards with guidebook

This is the third deck in the Seasons of the Witch series, alongside the Samhain and Yule editions.

Seasons of the Witch: Imbolc Oracle - 44 cards on hope and transition

Imbolc sits at the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. The darkness is beginning to lift, but spring has not arrived. This oracle is built around that threshold moment, and that comes through clearly in the tone of the cards.

The deck was created by Lorriane Anderson and Juliet Diaz, the duo behind the Seasons of the Witch series, and illustrated by Tijana Lukovic. Lukovic works from Ghent and draws on folklore, fairy tale and mythology. Those influences are visible throughout the imagery.

What you find on the cards

The oracle contains 44 cards. Each card offers a short window into its meaning, so you do not have to interpret the image alone. Alongside that meaning, each card carries a word spell: a short text intended to call up the energy of the card and send an intention outward.

The focus of this oracle, one of the sabbats (the old seasonal festivals), is patience, hope and solitary spiritual work. The card descriptions address what moves inwardly: vulnerability, uncertainty about next steps, the need for encouragement. This is deliberate. Imbolc is considered in Celtic tradition to be the sabbat most suited to work you do on your own.

Who this deck is built for

The short meanings printed on the cards make this oracle accessible to people new to card reading. No prior knowledge of tarot or oracle traditions is needed. At the same time, the subject matter is specific enough to interest someone who already works with the wheel of the year.

Draw a card at the start of the week and keep the word spell as an anchor. The texts are short enough to hold in mind, but concrete enough to act on.
