Synesthesia Tarot deck & book - black and white minimalism with silver accents
Some tarot cards flood you with colour and detail. This deck does the opposite. Synesthesia Tarot by Jana Walker reduces each card to lines, shapes and symbolism on a deep black background. The only colour comes from silver foil.
The result is quiet. No backgrounds competing for attention, no decorative filler. What remains is the structure of the tarot itself.
What you see on the cards
The illustrations are digital but feel hand-drawn. White lines form figures, objects and symbols. The black background pulls back. Silver foil marks details like the border, titles and accents within the images.
The symbolism follows the classical tarot. Major and Minor Arcana are recognisable to anyone who has worked with a Rider-Waite-based deck before. At the same time everything feels more abstract. Less elaborated, more direct.
The cards are printed on heavy 350 gsm cardstock with a soft-touch matte coating. That means they do not feel smooth but velvety. The format is 70 x 120 mm, standard tarot size. They come in a sturdy magnetic box with black finish.
How this deck behaves in use
The minimalism forces you to fill in the gaps yourself. Where a traditional deck presents you with a scene, this deck gives you lines and leaves the rest to you. That asks something of your intuition.
For beginners used to elaborate scenes, that can feel strange at first. At the same time, that very simplicity makes it easier not to get stuck in details. There is less to distract you.
The deck feels good in the hand. The matte coating makes shuffling smooth, without cards sticking together. The black border hides signs of use well.
Pull one card each morning and lay it in front of you without immediately looking up the meaning. Just look at the lines. What do you see first? That is often enough to start the day with.
About Jana Walker
Jana Walker comes from a background in sports, visual arts and music. Her work revolves around making connection through simplicity. She sees art not as decoration but as a way to help people look inward.
For the Synesthesia Tarot that means leaving out what is not needed. What remains is what works.

Questions we often get
Does a guidebook come with this deck?
No. The deck follows the classical tarot structure, so any standard tarot guide works. The cards themselves contain no text except the titles.
Is this suitable as a first deck?
That depends. If you prefer working with visual cues and elaborate scenes, choose a more traditional deck first. If you do not want to be distracted by details and want space for your own interpretation, this deck can work well.
