Tarot of Tides: The Adventures of a Duck Named Bob - a tarot deck with a toy duck drifting through seas, creatures, and arcana
Bob is a small toy duck who gets left behind on the beach one day. From that moment on, the tides carry him forward, as if the sea turns the pages for him. In the cards you see far-off shores, strange beings, and real animals appearing out of foam and sky. Bob looks at everything with innocent, unbiased eyes, and that simple gaze makes small details feel important.
This tarot deck contains 78 cards and a 164-page guidebook, in English.
Why choose these cards?
Tarot of Tides follows the classic tarot structure, with Bob as the Fool moving through the Major and Minor Arcana. It is inspired by the Rider Waite tradition, so familiar scenarios and meanings show up, wrapped in imagery and narrative that belongs to Bob’s personal odyssey. A card can feel recognisable, yet the tide, the landscape, or an unexpected creature shifts the mood and changes what you notice first.
The guidebook leans into storytelling, and it also provides upright and reversed keywords and meanings. It includes instructions for four thematic spreads, giving you options: stay with the narrative for a while, or move straight to meanings and see how Bob’s adventure reflects your question.
About the creator
Born in Yorkshire in Northern England, Steven Hutton grew up immersed in fantastical TV stories such as Doctor Who and films like Star Wars. He developed an early flair for drawing and imaginative storytelling, with the goal of becoming an illustrator. He earned degrees in graphics and illustration and established himself as a children’s book illustrator for Oxford University Press.
He also delivered illustration workshops across the United Kingdom for children of many ages. His love of art and writing led him to create oracle projects as well, including Raven’s Wand Oracle and Land of Giants Oracle.

Who is this product suitable for?
This deck works well if you like reading through story and imagery at the same time. You pull a card, see where Bob has drifted, and notice the feeling the scene creates before you put it into words. Because it follows familiar tarot roles, you can also read in a classic way, while Bob’s journey helps you view the same themes from a fresh angle.
If you prefer a strictly traditional deck without a recurring character and without a fantasy world, a more straightforward tarot deck may feel like a better fit. Here, Bob stays present as a thread through the whole set.
Tips for use
Lay three cards: “where I’m drifting now”, “what is pulling at me”, “what direction is becoming clear”. Then read one short section in the guidebook to see which part of Bob’s journey stays with your question.
