Thelema Lenormand - digital imagery with esoteric depth
Lenormand cards are recognisable by their clear symbolism: the ring, the flowers, the book. The imagery is usually light and straightforward. Thelema Lenormand chooses a different direction.
Renata Lechner places the 36 classic symbols in digitally painted scenes that feel dark and cinematic. The ship sails through misty waters, the key lies in a geometrical space without context. The atmosphere is esoteric, sometimes elusive.
What you see on the cards
Each card shows the traditional Lenormand symbol, but Lechner does not anchor it in a recognisable world. Instead of a ring on a cushion you see a ring floating in a mystical space. Instead of a cottage with smoke from the chimney you see architecture that is dreamlike and abstract.
The colours are predominantly dark: deep blue, black, gold, copper red. The light falls dramatically. The symbolism remains readable, but the execution asks for a different way of seeing. This is not a deck you scan quickly.
The cards are large: 99 x 133 mm. That format gives the detailed digital paintings room to breathe. The cardstock is sturdy and has a matte finish.
Who this deck works for
Thelema Lenormand is designed for those who know the Lenormand tradition and are looking for an artistic, esoteric translation. The guidebook explains the basic meanings but assumes you know how to read Lenormand combinations.
If you are just starting with Lenormand and looking for an accessible entry deck, there are clearer options. If you are already familiar with the system and curious about a dark, mystical execution, this is exactly that.
Lay the cards by candlelight in the evening. The dramatic play of light in the illustrations comes through more strongly then.
About Renata Lechner
Renata Lechner works as a digital artist and is internationally known for her esoteric imagery. Her earlier work, the Thelema Tarot, stood out through the same cinematic, dark atmosphere.
Her style combines digital precision with symbolic depth. Each card is built as a small composition in which light, colour and form together create a mood.

Questions we often get
Is this a suitable first Lenormand deck?
No. The imagery is complex and esoteric. If you do not yet know the basic meanings of Lenormand, choose a clearer deck first such as the Piatnik or Blue Owl edition. Thelema Lenormand is stronger when you already know how the system works.
How does this differ from traditional Lenormand decks?
Traditional Lenormand cards show symbols in everyday, recognisable settings. Thelema Lenormand places the same symbols in digitally painted, mystical spaces. The meanings remain the same, but the atmosphere is darker and more abstract.
