Cilla Conway painted this oracle during the 2020 lockdown, starting from oil paintings already spread across her studio floor. The 48 cards follow souls along four distinct paths through the afterlife, from luminous arrival to profound confusion, from new gardens to a darkness with no visible way out. The imagery is abstract and full of movement, drawing comparisons to Blake in both colour and mythological depth.

The structure follows the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition, but the archetypes are translated into Byzantine figures and titles. John Matthews wrote the accompanying 160-page guidebook.

Cilla Conway

Cilla Conway, born in Holland and raised in Zimbabwe, is an artist and tarot reader. After moving to the UK in 1971, she balanced office work with painting. Her first tarot deck, produced between 1973 and 1981, set the tone for her career. Since 2002, she has focused on her art and tarot. Conway has self-published several decks, including *The Shimmering Veil Tarot* and *The Multi-Dimensional Devas*. Her latest deck, *Oracle of the Future*, is set to release in January 2024.
