Meredith Dillman

I am an artist deeply inspired by fantasy and fairy tales. Like many artists, I have been drawing since childhood and loved drawing fairies, mythical creatures, and woodland animals. All these things continue to inspire me. My inspirations grew to include everything from art history to the petals and leaves of plants on the forest floor.During my art schooling, I explored the school library, diving into books on the Pre-Raphaelites, Art Nouveau, and turn-of-the-century illustrations. I had the chance to study in Japan and spent my spare time drawing manga-inspired comics.I create my color artworks with watercolors, inks, and acrylics. I make each painting in stages, starting with pencil and ink drawings followed by many transparent layers of watercolor. Recently, I have rediscovered my love of pen and ink drawings in an effort to distill the essence of my style. It was exciting to finally realize that the common thread in the art I loved was the line.I now live in Wisconsin (transplanted from Minnesota) with my husband and two cats.
