Foxfire the Kitsune Oracle - Japanese foxes as guides for protection and change
The Kitsune are clever, loyal beings from Japanese folklore. Sometimes they appear as foxes, sometimes as humans. They are known as protectors and companions of Inari, the rice goddess. This oracle deck brings their world to you: dreamlike, clear, full of symbols that immediately stir something.
Lucy Cavendish wrote the texts, Meredith Dillman drew the cards. The result is a deck that translates Eastern wisdom into accessible messages. No complicated systems, just 45 cards you can use for daily questions or extended readings.
What you see on the cards
Meredith Dillman works with soft colours and an ethereal style. Cherry blossoms, bamboo, dragons and of course the Kitsune themselves appear in a visual language that feels like a fairy tale without becoming vague. The symbolism is Eastern but not so specific that you need prior knowledge.
The cards have a matte finish. This means they do not reflect light, which is useful if you photograph a spread or use them during meditation. The format is compact: 90 x 128 mm, easy to shuffle and lay out.
How the deck works
The messages in the guidebook are a mix of practical advice and spiritual reflection. Cavendish writes directly and constructively. The tone is playful, the insights surprising. Many cards touch on themes such as protection, inner strength, trusting your intuition and moving with change.
The guidebook runs to 144 pages. Each card receives a detailed description. There are also several spreads. You can get started right away, even without experience with oracle cards.
Draw a card each morning and keep the message in the back of your mind for the rest of the day. Notice if you come across anything that resonates with it.
