Archetype Cards - 80 cards with light and shadow for each archetype
One book is rarely enough when you want to work seriously with archetypes. Caroline Myss, known for her bestseller 'Sacred Contracts', translated years of research into a set of 80 cards, each naming an archetype and describing both its light and shadow side.
In Myss's system, archetypes are the universal patterns of behaviour that Carl Jung described as embedded in the collective unconscious. She mapped a broad range: from 'Healer', 'Mystic' and 'Teacher' to 'Addict', 'Thief', 'Vampire' and 'Wounded Child'. That breadth is deliberate. These cards do not stay in the comfortable end of the human psyche.
What you see on the cards
Each card carries the archetype's name, a brief description, and its light and shadow attributes. The illustrations are varied and colourful, with borders that change colour from card to card. There is no clear system tying specific colours to specific archetype groups. The colour functions mainly to keep the cards lively and distinct from one another.
Six blank cards come with the set, intended for adding your own archetypes with your own light and shadow attributes. It is a practical addition for anyone who wants to extend the system.
The guidebook and how to work with the cards
The 105-page guidebook fits inside the box. Readers already familiar with Myss's archetype work will find it a recognisable companion. Those new to the system may find the instructions leave room for interpretation when it comes to practical use.
The cards work well for journaling and shadow work: draw a card, read its light and shadow side, and consider which pattern is active in your life. The set is explicitly designed as a companion to 'Sacred Contracts', but functions as a standalone tool as well.
Draw one card and ask yourself: do I recognise the shadow side of this archetype in myself, and when did I last see it? The text is short enough to read in a minute, but takes longer to sit with honestly.

Questions we often get
Is this a tarot deck?
No. The Archetype Cards follow no tarot structure and contain no Major or Minor Arcana. It is a standalone oracle set based on Caroline Myss's archetype framework, rooted in Jungian concepts.
Do I need the book 'Sacred Contracts' to use these cards?
Not necessarily. The cards work on their own, and the set includes a 105-page guidebook. Readers who know 'Sacred Contracts' will recognise the framework immediately, but prior reading is not required.
