Autumn's Embrace Lenormand - Dutch illustrator, 38 cards in autumn tones
Irene Captijn did not come to the Lenormand through formal training or family tradition. She discovered it during her recovery from a hospital stay in 2020, learned to read the cards, and soon began designing her own decks. The Autumn's Embrace Lenormand grew out of that experience.
The deck is published by U.S. Games Systems and belongs to an ongoing seasonal series. The spring edition, Sweet Blossom Lenormand, is already available. Summer and winter editions are planned.
What you see on the cards
The illustrations work with warm autumn tones: the colours of October leaves, ripe fruit and low-angle light. Captijn's style is refined and uncluttered, without busy backgrounds or unnecessary detail. You see the season, not just the card images.
The set contains 38 cards instead of the usual 36. The extra Lady and Gentleman cards give more flexibility in readings where more than one person plays a role, or where you want more nuance in who or what holds the central position.
The guidebook
The 72-page guidebook is in English. It covers the meaning of each card and includes a broad introduction to the history of the Lenormand tradition. That context is useful if you are not yet familiar with this system, since Lenormand works differently from tarot: cards are almost always read in combination, not on their own.

Questions we often get
What is the difference between this deck and a standard 36-card Lenormand?
This set includes two extra cards: a second Lady and a second Gentleman. In a reading, that lets you represent two different people at the same time without repurposing one of the standard cards. Anyone used to 36 cards can simply set the extra cards aside.
Is the guidebook suitable if you are new to the Lenormand?
The guidebook includes a broad introduction to the Lenormand tradition alongside the card meanings. That gives a solid starting point, though the Lenormand is a system built around combinations. Additional practice or a supplementary resource can help with that.
