Brotherhood of Light Egyptian Tarot - tarot as esoteric study system
Not every tarot deck invites you to spend months with it. This one does. The Brotherhood of Light Egyptian Tarot was developed by The Church of Light, an organization devoted to the teachings of C.C. Zain. It is a system in which tarot, astrology, numerology and kabbalah come together in one coherent whole.
The original cards were black and white. Artist Vicki Brewer reinterpreted them in color, keeping the geometric patterns and symbolism intact while opening up the palette. The result is a deck that is visually more accessible, without losing esoteric depth.
What you see on the cards
Each card contains astrological and numerological symbols. The Major Arcana are linked to signs and planets, the Minor Arcana to decanates. This makes it possible to read a card not only symbolically, but also to place it astrologically.
The visual language is geometric and inspired by Egyptian tradition. No naturalistic scenes, but compositions in which shape, color and symbol carry equal weight. It takes getting used to, but also provides a clear consistency.
What sets this deck apart
This is not a deck for quick daily draws. It is designed as a learning tool. For each card you need to understand the astrological and numerological context to grasp the full meaning. That makes it slower, but also richer.
The 48-page guidebook explains the basics. It is written from the work 'The Sacred Tarot' by C.C. Zain. You get an introduction to the system, card meanings and a few spreads. For those who want to go deeper, Zain's own book is the next step.
Place a card next to your birth chart. The astrological signs on the cards help you see how tarot and your own chart speak to each other.

Questions we often get
Do I need to know astrology to work with this deck?
It helps. The cards constantly reference planets, signs and decanates. Without basic knowledge of astrology you miss a layer of meaning. The guidebook explains the connections, but it is not an astrology course.
How does this differ from a Rider-Waite-Smith deck?
The structure is the same: 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana. The imagery and symbolism, however, are completely different. Where RWS works with scenes and everyday situations, this deck uses geometry and Egyptian symbols. The focus is on cosmic laws, not human stories.
