Circles of Healing - round affirmation cards with mandala design

Reading an affirmation is one thing. Holding an affirmation in a round form that visually pulls you toward the centre is something else. These cards by Alana Fairchild are circular, 129 mm in diameter, and made to be held while you focus on the centre of the mandala.

The set contains 44 cards, each with a unique geometric design and a matching text. The idea is that the form and pattern work on their own, separate from the words. Colour and line together form a visual anchor point.

What you see on the cards

The designs are built from layers of geometric patterns. Circles, triangles, petals, spirals. The colours are bold and bright, with heavy use of green, blue, purple, gold and pink.

Each card carries an affirmation in English. Short sentences, often in the first person. The text sits apart from the mandala, usually at the top or bottom of the card. The whole is symmetrical and calm to look at, even though the colours are vibrant.

How you work with them

Fairchild writes in the guidebook that the cards are meant to be held during meditation. You choose a card, read the affirmation, then focus on the centre of the mandala. The form and pattern are not decoration but part of the function.

The round form affects how you hold the card. A rectangular card you usually lay down or hold by the edge. A circle invites you to hold it with both hands, the way you would hold a stone or a crystal. That makes the use physically different.

Place a card on your altar or desk and let your gaze return to it a few times each day. The colours and patterns keep working, even when you are not consciously focusing.

Who this works for

This deck is not an oracle in the classical sense. You do not ask it questions and you do not lay spreads with it. It is a set of tools for visual focus and affirmation work. If you work with intention, meditation or energetic practice, this fits well into that.

The guidebook is brief, 16 pages. No extensive background or instructions, just a short introduction and some suggestions for use. This is not a deck you need to study. You pick it up and work with it.

Questions we often get

Can I use these cards for oracle readings?
That is not what they are designed for. They are affirmation cards with mandala designs, made for visual focus and meditation. You can draw a card for a daily intention, but there are no meanings or themes attached to them as there would be in an oracle deck.

How sturdy are the cards, given the round shape?
The cards are printed on solid cardstock and feel robust. The round shape does make them more vulnerable to edge damage if you shuffle them often. They hold up to daily use, but they ask for a bit more care than rectangular cards.
