Crystal Visions Tarot - Rider-Waite symbolism in a dreamy fantasy style
Some tarot decks choose: classic or fantastical. This deck does both. The Crystal Visions Tarot by Jennifer Galasso follows the familiar Rider-Waite structure completely, but wraps it in a world of fairies, dragons and seasonal colours.
The result is a deck you can read with all the knowledge you have from classic decks, but visually entirely its own. Each suit gets its own season and colour palette, making the connection between element and meaning immediately visible.
What you see on the cards
The illustrations are built around the four seasons. Each suit has its own colour world and atmosphere: spring, summer, autumn and winter return again and again in the compositions. This is not decoration, but a system that helps you remember suits and elements.
Fairies and dragons play a leading role, but always within the classic tarot symbolism. The imagery is rich and layered, with attention to depth and detail. Colours are intense, compositions are considered.
The deck contains 78 cards plus one extra: the Unknown Card. You use this card for situations that have not yet crystallised, or for moments when you want to work consciously with the unknown in a question.
How this deck relates to Rider-Waite
All card names, suit names and symbolic relationships come from the Rider-Waite tradition. If you have ever worked with another Rider-Waite based deck, you will recognise the structure here immediately. The meanings are not adapted or expanded, only drawn differently.
This makes the deck accessible for those just starting with tarot who prefer to learn through image rather than text. The seasonal colour coding works as a memory aid without requiring instructions.
Use the Unknown Card deliberately as a closing card in a reading: lay it last and ask yourself what information you have not yet faced in the other cards.
About Jennifer Galasso
Jennifer Galasso is an American fantasy artist from New England. She started painting murals in high school and developed her own style around mythology, nature and dreamlike compositions.
The Crystal Visions Tarot, published by U.S. Games Systems in 2011, became her best-known project. The name is inspired by singer Stevie Nicks' album Crystal Visions, whose music had a major influence on Galasso's spiritual development. The deck was voted by Aeclectic Tarot readers as one of the top ten decks of all time, and named by Tarotize.com as the most beautiful tarot deck of 2011.

Questions we often get
What is the Unknown Card and how do you use it?
The Unknown Card is an extra card that does not belong to the standard 78 tarot cards. You can use it in readings about situations that have not yet fully unfolded, or when you want to work consciously with the unknown in a question. It works most strongly when you choose it deliberately, not when it accidentally lands in a spread.
Does this deck follow Rider-Waite symbolism?
Yes. The Crystal Visions Tarot follows the classic Rider-Waite structure completely: card names, suit names and symbolism align closely. The illustrative style is Galasso's own, but the underlying meanings are familiar to anyone who knows other Rider-Waite based decks.
