Product information

The Dark Goddesses Oracle – an oracle deck with elegant macabre artwork and goddesses re-read through a new lens

The Dark Goddesses Oracle draws you into a world that feels both elegant and dark. The illustrations are carefully crafted, placing feminine figures on the page with a dreamy kind of sharpness. You meet goddesses as archetypes, but also as beings with edges and history. The imagery leaves space for silence and for a gaze that lingers, as if you need a moment to adjust to what you’re seeing before you can name it.

These are oracle cards with 60 cards and an 80-page illustrated guide, in English, published by US Games Inc.

Why choose these cards?

This deck works with goddesses from around the world who have often been misunderstood across time. They were pushed into the stereotype of evil witches and dangerous women to be feared and cast out. Here, they are revisited as symbols of power and freedom. The approach is that, through this re-reading, you can reconnect with parts of yourself you may have hidden, judged, or labelled as “too much”.

Each card is paired in the guidebook with a myth that explores the goddess’s origins in her culture, along with a meaning you can apply to day-to-day life, such as independence, courage, or healing. That gives you two layers to work with: story and context first, then the practical direction the card offers. The deck names goddesses such as Kali, Lilith, Athena, and Isis, using them as entry points for exploring what “power” means in your own life.

About the creator

Caitlin McCarthy is an artist and illustrator based in Northern California, where she lives with her partner and their daughter. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Art from Dominican University. Since childhood, she has been drawn to drawing and to themes of the occult, feminine symbolism, and an aesthetic that can feel dark and dreamlike.

She works primarily with graphite on paper, which gives her imagery a detailed, atmospheric quality. Female figures often appear in her work as seers, mystics, goddesses, and witches. Gothic, Victorian, and occult influences weave together into a style that feels powerful while staying introspective. She regularly shares her art on Instagram under @caitlinmccarthyart.

Who is this product suitable for?

These oracle cards work well if you like reading through myth and archetype, and if you enjoy a card setting a mood before it gives you language. You draw a goddess, read her story, and notice which meaning naturally stays with you. It can feel gentle, but it can also be confronting, because the deck focuses on “misunderstood” power and on imagery that refuses to stay neatly inside the lines.

If you mainly want light, airy cards without a macabre tone, another oracle may feel like a better fit. This deck intentionally stays in an elegant darkness, with self-love and self-discovery as a thread running through it.

Tips for use

Pull one card and read only the myth first, without jumping to the meaning. Then pick one word from the meaning to practise today in a small, concrete moment.
