Enchantress Tarot - Rider-Waite-Smith with contemporary imagery
Some decks rethink the whole tarot tradition. This one uses Rider-Waite-Smith as its foundation and brings a contemporary visual language to it. Soft colours, feminine archetypes, inclusive interpretations.
Mara Parra designed the system, Josefina Schargorodsky drew the cards. Both are Argentinian. The deck was published by Fera, an independent publisher Parra co-founded. The style leans on the iconography of Pamela Colman Smith but is visually clearer and more modern.
What you see on the cards
The main lines of the RWS are recognisable: same structure, comparable scenes, comparable symbols. The execution is softer. Pastel colours dominate, the lines flow, faces are diverse.
The emphasis is on feminine energy. Male figures appear, but the focus is deliberately on feminine roles and perspectives. That fits the premise of the deck: tarot as a tool to strengthen intuition and inner wisdom.
The guidebook gives a short description and a few keywords for each card. It also includes a few spreads. Enough to work with, not overwhelming.
Who this deck works for
This deck is designed for those who want to learn or use the RWS structure but have no need for the classic imagery of Pamela Colman Smith. The modern execution makes it suitable for daily use and for professional readings.
The inclusive imagery speaks to people who want to see diversity in their cards. That is not rhetoric. You see it in the faces, the bodies, the clothing.
Draw one card in the morning and place it in front of you. The soft colours make it easy to let your thoughts wander without being distracted by details.

Questions we often get
How closely does this deck follow the Rider-Waite-Smith?
The structure and symbolism largely correspond. If you know the RWS, you will recognise the scenes. The imagery is contemporary, but the meanings do not deviate significantly.
Is the guidebook thorough enough to start with?
Yes. Each card receives a description and a few keywords. There are a few spreads included. Enough to work with in your first weeks, but not a thick book.
