Ghost Tarot - mist, moonlight and melancholy
Some decks are bright and colourful. This one chooses veils of fog and soft shadows. Ghost Tarot takes place in a world that is not quite here, but not quite somewhere else either.
Davide Corsi draws ethereal figures in landscapes filled with mist and moonlight. The colours are muted blues, greys and whites. No hard lines, no sharp contrasts. Everything seems in motion, as if you are looking through a veil.
What you see on the cards
The cards follow the classic tarot structure: 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana. The imagery is both romantic and ghostly. Figures float, drift, stand still in the mist. They often look away or have their eyes closed.
The atmosphere is not frightening. It is melancholic. The cards evoke something of longing, of something that has been or is yet to come. That makes them suitable for questions about memories, unprocessed emotions and hidden desires.
The size is compact: 66 x 120 mm. The cards sit comfortably in the hand and are printed on sturdy cardstock with a matte finish. That prevents distracting reflections under artificial light.
Try this deck by candlelight. The soft tones come into their own and the atmosphere becomes more tangible.
How you work with it
The symbolism is more dreamlike than in a classic Rider-Waite-Smith deck. That asks more of your intuition. You do not only read what you see, you also feel what the card suggests. That can be intense.
The deck works well for slow, contemplative readings. Not for quick yes/no questions, but for deeper explorations. Questions about relationships, about what lies beneath the surface, about what you are not quite ready to see yet.
The multilingual guidebook provides basic information about the cards. The text is concise and leaves room for your own interpretation. That suits the nature of the deck.

Questions we often get
Are the cards scary or dark?
No. They are melancholic and mystical, but not frightening. The atmosphere is more romantic than eerie. Think of a misty evening in moonlight, not a horror film.
Is this deck suitable for beginners?
That depends on how you read. The structure is classic, so if you know the basics of tarot you can start working with it straight away. The symbolism is more abstract than in an RWS deck though, so you need to be willing to trust your intuition.
