Golden Botticelli Tarot - Renaissance art with gold foil on every card
Sandro Botticelli never painted tarot cards. Arturo Picca did make them, based on the visual language of the Florentine master. The result is a deck in which you recognise the dreamy softness of the Renaissance, translated into the structure of 78 tarot cards.
Every card contains gold foil accents. This is not decoration alone. The gold catches the light when you move the cards, which gives the figures and symbols depth.
What you see on the cards
The illustrations show mythological figures, natural elements and soft colour transitions. Many cards contain pastel pink, light blue and off-white. The lines are refined, the compositions calm.
The symbolism follows the Rider-Waite tradition, but the imagery is fully Renaissance. Where you see simple line drawings in a classic deck, here you find complete scenes with drapery, flowers and architectural elements.
The gold foil appears mainly in backgrounds, crowns, halos and details in clothing. In daylight or candlelight the effect shifts. The cards linger a moment longer in your sight.
How this deck compares to other tarot cards
This is not a beginner deck. The images are richer than in a standard Rider-Waite, which means you need time to get used to the symbolism. Anyone already familiar with tarot archetypes will recognise the structure quickly.
The cards measure 66 x 120 mm, a standard size. The cardstock is sturdy and finished with gloss. The guidebook is short and multilingual. It contains basic meanings, no in-depth interpretation.
Try laying the cards by candlelight. The gold reflects differently than under fluorescent light, and that changes how you look at the images.

Questions we often get
Does this deck differ strongly from the Rider-Waite structure?
The structure follows Rider-Waite. The imagery is different: Renaissance instead of medieval. Anyone who knows the basic meanings will find their way.
How durable is the gold foil with daily use?
The cardstock is sturdy and the foil adheres well. With intensive shuffling you may see slight wear at the edges over time, but the gold details on the cards themselves remain intact.
