Holo Tarot - classic Rider-Waite with holographic coating
Most tarot cards sit flat on the table. These move. Not literally, but the holographic coating on every face card catches available light and shifts through a full range of colour as you tilt the card. It is a physical property of the surface, not a digital effect.
The deck comes from Blackfish Studio, an independent design studio based in the United States. The underlying imagery follows the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition closely: recognisable poses, familiar symbolism, the same compositional logic you find in hundreds of RWS-based decks. The coating is what sets this one apart visually.
What you see on the cards
The imagery is printed clearly beneath the holographic layer. The traditional Rider-Waite-Smith iconography stays legible, even as the colours shift with the light. The back of each card is black with a silver star pattern, calm and graphic against the animated fronts.
The cards feel sturdy and flexible. They handle well with standard shuffling techniques. The two-piece box has silver foil detailing and holds the cards and guidebook securely.
How you work with it
The included guidebook is in English and covers core symbolism and keywords for each card. It does not include spreads or extended card descriptions. If you already know the Rider-Waite-Smith meanings, that level of detail is enough to work from.
The holographic effects are strongest in diffused natural light or candlelight. In direct bright light, the reflections can dominate the imagery. That is worth knowing before you settle on a reading space.
Tilt a card slowly and watch the colours move across the surface. Some people find this slows down the rush to a quick interpretation, which is not the worst thing in a reading.
About Blackfish Studio
Blackfish Studio is an independent design studio based in the United States. Their focus is on reworking classic esoteric formats with contemporary production methods. Holo Tarot does not redesign the Rider-Waite-Smith imagery. It reframes it through a different surface finish.

Questions we often get
Can you still read the imagery clearly through the holographic coating?
Yes. The Rider-Waite-Smith symbolism is printed sharply beneath the coating and remains recognisable. At certain angles the reflections dominate, but the underlying image does not disappear. Diffused light helps if you want the symbolism to stay central.
Does the guidebook include spreads or full card descriptions?
No. The guidebook is concise and covers keywords and core symbolism per card. Extended meanings and spreads are not included.
