Land of Giants Oracle - mythology in the landscape
Giants as part of the landscape: a theme that appears in many old stories. This oracle deck by Steven Hutton builds on that. Each card translates a lesson or quality of a giant into a natural element: a stone, a river, a tree.
The deck contains 42 cards and comes with a 56-page English guidebook. Published by U.S. Games Systems, the publisher also known for classic decks such as the Rider-Waite.
What you see on the cards
Hutton works with an illustration style that combines fantasy and realism. The colours are earthy: much green, brown, stone and forest tones. The giants themselves are not always central in the image. Sometimes you see a silhouette, a footprint, or a landscape that suggests their presence.
The symbolism is not abstract. Each card shows an element from nature that is directly recognizable. This also makes the deck accessible if you have little experience with oracle cards.
How you work with it
The guidebook describes three spreads designed specifically for this deck. They focus on themes such as transformation, obstacles and natural cycles. Each card image is briefly explained, with attention to the natural element and the corresponding lesson.
The format is 99 x 149 mm, slightly smaller than standard tarot cards. It shuffles easily and fits in a coat pocket.
Draw a card and go outside. Find the element shown on the card and notice what catches your attention when you look at it with the card description in mind.

Questions we often get
Do the cards show meanings on them?
No, the cards only show the image. You need the guidebook for the meanings.
Can I use this deck alongside tarot cards?
Yes. The theme is broad enough to work as a supplement, for example if you have a question about natural cycles or personal strength.
