Lenormand Mystico Cartes SP - hand-painted in tempera by Urban Trösch
There are Lenormand decks you might describe as minimalist. This is not one of them. The cards are painted in tempera, a technique more often found in museums than on playing cards. The result: deep colours, saturated hues, images that look like small paintings.
Urban Trösch painted all 36 cards by hand. Regula Elizabeth Fiechter, a Swiss expert with decades of experience in esoteric practices, provided the interpretative foundation. Together they made a deck that stays true to classic Lenormand symbolism while adding a visually richer layer.
What you see on the cards
The imagery is traditional. Rider, clover, ship, anchor: all the familiar Lenormand symbols are present. What differs is the execution. The tempera paint gives the cards a full, almost velvety colour. Red is truly red, blue runs deep.
Each card carries a number, as is standard in Lenormand. The symbols are clear enough to scan quickly during a reading, yet detailed enough to look at longer. The format is compact: 60 x 90 mm. That makes them easy to shuffle, even with smaller hands.
Who this works for
This deck is suitable for beginners who want to learn the Lenormand tradition with clear, recognisable symbols. The cards are not overcrowded. The numbering helps when laying out patterns such as the Grand Tableau.
For those already working with Lenormand, this deck offers something else: the colours give an emotional tone to the reading before you interpret the meaning. That can enrich your practice.
Pay attention to the colours during a reading. Red can indicate passion or tension, blue suggests calm or distance. The tempera makes these nuances visible.

Questions we often get
Is this deck usable if you do not speak Spanish?
The cards themselves contain only symbols and numbers, no text. The guidebook is in Spanish. If you are already familiar with Lenormand, you can use the cards without the guidebook. For beginners who do not read Spanish, a Dutch or English version would be more practical.
What is the difference between tempera and standard printing?
Tempera is a classic painting technique using pigments that dry matte and saturated. This gives the cards a different colour depth than standard offset printing. You see the difference mainly in the intensity and nuances of the hues.
