Anyone familiar with Prisma Visions will immediately recognize the other side of the same story here. Where that deck uses light and colour, the Little Light Visions chooses sepia tones and quiet. The result is a deck that makes room for introspection.
James R. Eads has redrawn all 78 cards in monochrome tones. The Major Arcana stand alone, the Minor Arcana form a continuous panorama per suit when you lay them side by side. That panoramic quality makes patterns and connections visible that are less obvious in individual cards.
The drawing style is post-impressionist: flowing lines, movement, a dreamlike texture. No hard outlines, but rather waves of light and shadow that merge into each other.
The cards are printed on matte card stock with a UV coating, which provides a smooth shuffle and protection against wear. The edges are silver, which gives a subtle but tangible contrast in a sepia deck.
The pamphlet contains keywords per card in English. No extensive descriptions, no spreads. Enough to get started, not enough to hold on to.
The artwork is identical to the standard Light Visions Tarot. The format is not. These cards are 51 x 89 mm, considerably smaller than the regular version. That makes them easier to shuffle for smaller hands and convenient to carry.
The packaging is a tin box instead of cardboard. That offers better protection, especially if you carry the deck in a bag or backpack. The box itself is illustrated with a detail from the deck.
Lay all the Swords side by side in a long row. You will then see one continuous landscape in which the emotional journey of that suit unfolds from ace to king.
James R. Eads is an artist from Los Angeles whose work focuses on movement and mysticism. In addition to physical decks, he works on virtual reality projects and installations. His passion for divination runs as a thread through all his work.

Is this deck suitable for beginners?
The pamphlet with keywords helps, but this is not an instruction deck. If you already have some basic knowledge of tarot, the panoramic structure of the Minor Arcana actually offers a useful way to see connections. Completely new? Then you might be better off choosing a deck with more explanation first.
What is the advantage of the tin box?
Tin protects better than cardboard against moisture and dents. If you often carry the deck with you or put it in a bag, the cards and their silver edges will stay beautiful longer. The box itself also feels sturdier than standard cardboard boxes.
