Lovers Path Tarot Deck - mythical couples on every card
Most tarot decks work with archetypes. This one works with lovers. Each of the 78 cards carries a love story from mythology, history or literature: Tristan and Isolde for The Lovers, Eros and Psyche for The Star, Romeo and Juliet for Two of Cups. Kris Waldherr pairs each tarot archetype with a famous couple and turns every card into a small narrative.
The deck follows the Rider-Waite structure, but the imagery is softer. Where RWS is sharp and symbolic, Waldherr chooses dreamy compositions in pastel tones. The cards are larger than average, which gives the detailed paintings room to breathe.
What you see on the cards
Waldherr's style recalls illustrations from old fairy tale books. Soft lines, classical clothing, plenty of gold and ivory. Each couple is shown in a moment that sums up their story: Orpheus looking back at Eurydice, Lancelot and Guinevere in a garden, Shiva and Shakti in cosmic embrace.
The cards contain little abstract symbolism. Instead you see human emotions: longing, grief, surrender, connection. That makes the deck immediately accessible, even if you do not know the myths themselves. The 180-page guidebook gives each card the story of the couple and explains how that translates into the tarot meaning.
Who this deck is designed for
This deck is made for questions about relationships, emotional growth and patterns in connection. Waldherr writes explicitly that she designed it to give insight into the dynamics between people. That does not mean you can only use it for love questions, but it works strongest there.
The Rider-Waite foundation makes it accessible for beginners. The stories in the guidebook give context without requiring prior knowledge. At the same time the mythological layer offers enough depth for experienced readers who want to read each card as a meditative story.
Pull a card and read the story of the couple in the guidebook first. Only then look at the traditional tarot meaning. That gives a richer reading than the other way round.

Questions we often get
Do I need to know the stories of the couples to work with this deck?
No. The guidebook tells the story for each card and explains how it relates to the tarot meaning. You can start immediately without prior knowledge of mythology.
Can you use this deck for questions that are not about relationships?
Yes. The cards follow the traditional tarot structure, so they work for all kinds of questions. But the imagery and the stories are focused on human connection, so that theme always comes through in the reading.
