Lover's Path Tarot Premier Edition - mythology as a mirror for relationships
Not every tarot tells a story per card. This one does. Kris Waldherr chooses to link each arcana to a well-known pair of lovers from mythology or history. The Lovers become Eros and Psyche. The Tower shows the fall of Troy. Death depicts Orpheus and Eurydice.
The idea is clear: love is not one theme among many, but the thread that runs through every human life. Passion, loyalty, betrayal, sacrifice, transformation, these are the themes that recur in myth and in your own relationships.
What you see on the cards
Waldherr's style is romantic, rich in colour, with a light sheen that makes the images feel almost Victorian. Gold, red, deep blue and soft skin tones dominate. The compositions are classical, with great attention to detail in clothing, architecture and landscape.
The cards are large, 89 x 140 mm. That takes some getting used to when shuffling, but the images gain space. Every detail is visible. Card names appear at the bottom, along with the Roman numeral or title. No keywords on the card itself.
The accompanying booklet describes each couple in detail. You read the story, the symbolism, and how that translates into tarot meaning. That makes the cards easier to remember than with a traditional deck. The story works as a memory aid.
How you work with it
This deck lends itself to readings about relationships, but not only romantic ones. Friendship, family patterns, the relationship with yourself. The mythical stories give context to emotional patterns that are otherwise hard to put into words.
Many people use this deck for daily cards. You draw a couple, read their story, see where it resonates today. That approach works because the stories are concrete enough to offer a foothold, but open enough to carry multiple layers.
Choose a card and read the full story in the booklet. Let it settle for a day or two before you draw the next one. The myths need time to land.

Questions we often get
Do I need to know the mythological stories already to work with this deck?
No. The booklet retells each story with enough context to understand it. Prior knowledge helps, but is not required.
Does this deck follow the Rider-Waite structure?
Yes. The order and division are the same. Only the imagery is different, through the mythical couples. If you know RWS, you will recognise the structure immediately.
