The set contains 44 cards with gold foil accents and gilded edges, along with an illustrated guidebook of 172 pages. The authors are Maya astrologer Bianca Feddersen and astrologer Tanja Brock, also known for the Astro Cards. Both are based in Germany.
The Tzolkin combines 20 day signs with 13 cosmic tones to create a cycle of 260 days. The cards translate these combinations into archetypes: energies you might encounter on a given day, or qualities associated with a specific date. Each day sign and tone has its own character, and the guidebook develops that fully for each card.
The system also connects to your birth date. From a Maya perspective, that date reveals which energetic qualities you carry with you. This makes the deck useful both as a daily consultation tool and as a kind of personal chart.
The most straightforward approach is to draw one card each morning to see which energy governs the day. Do I need to know Maya astrology before using this deck?
No. The 172-page guidebook explains the system step by step, including card meanings and exercises. No prior knowledge is required, though the Tzolkin is a layered system that takes time to get to know.
Can I use this deck without any experience with traditional tarot?
Yes. The Maya Astro Cards are oracle cards, not tarot cards. They work from their own system, entirely separate from the traditional tarot. Experience with tarot is not a requirement.
