The deck was made by Soni Graves, a Chilean-American artist who describes herself as an eclectic witch. She has been drawn to death and the macabre since childhood, a fascination that deepened after her mother passed away. Her mother, Mama Sonia, taught her about art, creativity, intuition and perseverance. That personal history grounds the deck's subject matter: grief, ancestral wisdom, spirit guides, past lives, and death rituals from cultures around the world.
What you see on the cards
The imagery is playful and dark at the same time, a style sometimes called whimsigoth: heavy symbolism rendered in a light, illustrative hand. The 77 cards feature iridescent foil details and iridescent edges. Every card has an inspirational message printed directly on it, giving you an anchor point for a reading even before you open the guidebook.
