Morená - 110 cards about the life of the Xingu people
This is not tarot and not an oracle in the classic sense. Morená is a collection of images that shows how a community in the Brazilian rainforest lives. You see scenes from daily existence: fishing, making fire, celebrations, rituals, children playing.
The set consists of 88 image cards and 22 trail cards. The latter work as signposts: they give direction to a story you can lay out with the image cards. It is a system that invites you to explore, to narrate, or simply to look.
What you see on the cards
The images are painted in warm, natural colours. Much ochre, red, green and brown. The style is figurative and calm. No excess, no chaos. Each card shows one moment or action.
The trail cards show patterns and symbols that mark the path through the jungle. They function as anchors for a route or a story. You can use them to structure a beginning, middle and end, or to give direction to a conversation.
How to work with it
This deck is not bound to fixed meanings. You can use it to tell stories, create educational material, or use it as a conversation starter about themes like community, tradition and relationship with nature. Also suitable for group work or coaching.
The image cards speak for themselves. You do not need a guidebook to see what is happening. The trail cards add structure if you want it.
Draw three image cards and one trail card. Place the trail card in the middle and think about how the three images connect through that trail.
