Pastoral Tarot – Discover the Serenity of the Countryside
Step into a world where the pace of life slows down and the beauty of the natural world takes center stage. The Pastoral Tarot is a stunning 78-card deck that invites you to escape the bustle of modern life and find sanctuary in the tranquil landscapes of the countryside. Through its unique horizontal orientation, this deck offers a cinematic perspective on the tarot, presenting sweeping vistas of apple orchards, lavender farms, and golden prairies that evoke a deep sense of nostalgia and peace.
The visual style is both lush and detailed, drawing the reader into a bucolic dreamscape. Whether you are wandering through a sun-drenched forest or resting by a quiet farmhouse, each card serves as a window into a simpler, more grounded existence. This deck doesn’t just show you a scene; it makes you feel the grass beneath your feet and the gentle whisper of the rural wind.
Symbolism and Themes
While the Pastoral Tarot closely honors the traditional structure and meanings of the Smith-Waite Tarot, it reimagines the archetypes through the lens of rural life. The system explores the profound connection between "place" and personal identity, suggesting that our environment deeply influences our spiritual growth. By replacing urban imagery with animal and seasonal symbolism, the deck emphasizes the cycles of nature and the abundance found in the earth.
The horizontal layout is more than just a design choice; it is a narrative tool. The wider perspective allows for more expansive storytelling within the illustrations, helping the reader to see the "bigger picture" in their readings. Themes of harvest, nurturing, and the rhythm of the seasons provide a rich tapestry for exploring both mundane and spiritual inquiries.

Because it follows the Rider-Waite-Smith system, experienced readers will find it easy to transition to this deck, while beginners will appreciate the clear, relatable imagery. The set is presented in a sturdy box and includes a 180-page illustrated guidebook that offers deep insights into each card, along with a linen storage bag to keep your cards protected.
Usage Tip: Due to the horizontal orientation, try a "Panorama Spread" by laying three cards side-by-side. Observe how the landscapes connect from one card to the next, creating a continuous story or a singular, wide-angle view of your current situation.
