Quên Lenormand - hand-painted watercolour set in wooden box

The Quên Lenormand is a Lenormand card set by Vietnamese artist Duy Khanh Vo. Every card is drawn with pen and coloured with watercolour. The images are soft and personal, and each one carries a short English phrase that adds a distinct tone to the classic Lenormand symbol it depicts.

Duy Khanh Vo self-publishes his sets in small editions. His Quên Tarot was named best tarot deck of 2022. Quên means 'forgotten' in Vietnamese.

What you see on the cards

The classic Lenormand layout is immediately recognisable: each card has a Roman numeral, and the corresponding playing card value appears in the lower right corner. Beneath every image is a short English phrase. The House card reads 'a place of safety', the Coffin card 'where you begin a new world', and the Birds card 'open to good news'. You read not just the symbol, but a small thought alongside it.

The cards have white borders and no gilding. One of the cards shown in the product photos is The Rider, with the phrase 'in the field of stars' beneath a watercolour scene with stars and butterflies.

The wooden box

The set comes in a natural, matte wooden box with a gold-toned metal clasp. The front of the box shows a hand-painted woman with short black hair, wearing a red dress with black dots and holding a doll or baby. This figure is the same one that appears on the Child card. Inside, the cards and linen pouch sit in a cardboard sleeve with a small wooden plank bearing the title.

For readers and collectors

This set is made for readers who already work with Lenormand and want a deck with a distinctive artistic voice. The wooden box also makes it a compelling object for collectors of Duy Khanh Vo's work.
