Runic Tarot - Norse mythology meets traditional tarot symbolism
Norse gods do not often take centre stage in a tarot deck. This one is an exception. Jack Sephiroth, Zhang Chao and Jaymi Elford have used the traditional tarot structure as a foundation and woven the symbolism of runes and the Norse pantheon through it.
The result is a deck in which you encounter Odin, Thor and the Valkyries, not as decoration, but as archetypes that colour the meaning of the cards. The runes add an extra layer: each symbol carries its own vibration and strengthens the reading.
What you see on the cards
The imagery is fantasy-driven and dramatic. Jack Sephiroth draws in a style you might see in graphic novels or fantasy art: strong compositions, high contrast, bold colour choices. Zhang Chao handled the symbolic depth.
The cards are printed on glossy cardstock, which keeps the colours bright and saturated. The size is standard, the deck shuffles easily. The storage box is sturdy and keeps everything together.
The guidebook explains how the runes and Norse mythology are integrated into traditional tarot meanings. Jaymi Elford, who has worked with tarot for over thirty years, wrote the text.
How this deck relates to classic tarot
The structure is traditional: 78 cards, 22 major arcana, 56 minor arcana divided across four suits. You can use this deck just as you would any other tarot deck. The difference lies in the symbolism.
Where a classic Rider-Waite-Smith deck uses Christian and Hermetic symbolism, this deck chooses the Norse path. That makes it interesting if you are drawn to that mythology, or if you simply want a different perspective on familiar arcana.
Draw a card at the full moon or during seasonal transitions. Norse mythology is closely tied to natural cycles, and that resonates in the readings.

Questions we often get
Do you need to know Norse mythology to work with this deck?
No. The basic structure is simply tarot. The guidebook explains which gods and runes appear on which cards and what they add to the meaning. You learn as you go.
How does this deck differ from other mythology decks?
This deck holds to the traditional tarot structure. It is not a standalone oracle, but a full tarot with Norse symbolism as an extra layer. That makes it more accessible than a completely free-form mythology deck.
