Seasons of the Witch - Ostara Oracle - 44 spring oracle cards with folklore illustrations
Ostara is the name used in witch traditions for the spring equinox, the moment when day and night are equal in length. This oracle by Lorriane Anderson and Juliet Diaz is built entirely around that moment: closing a chapter, restoring hope, taking a new step. Not as abstract ideas, but as a concrete thread running through all 44 cards.
The illustrations are by Tijana Lukovic, based in Ghent, Belgium. Her work draws on folklore, fairy tale, mythology and a sustained interest in the seasons. That shows in the deck: the cards feel both old and personal.
What you see on the cards
Each card carries a name, keywords and a descriptive text developed in the 160-page full-colour guidebook. Take the card 'Aromatherapy': the keywords are 'prioritize well-being, seek alternative forms of self-care, immediate call for wellness'. The text then explains that in relation to the season and what it asks of you.
'Sacred Circles' is about depth and releasing who someone was in the past, whether that concerns a relationship or your own sense of self. 'Spring Equinox' unpacks the Latin roots of the word equinox and asks: which path suits the season you are moving towards? That level of text lives in the guidebook, not on the cards themselves.
How this deck works
The guidebook describes the deck as a tool for moments when you want to close one period and step into something new. That makes it well suited for use around transitions: a new year, a new season, a personal turning point.
The cards have gilded edges and fit into the two-part box included with the deck. At 89 x 127 mm, the card size sits on the compact end for an oracle deck and sits comfortably in the hand.
Pull a card at the start of the week and read the full guidebook entry, not just the keywords. The written description gives more direction than the keyword line alone.
