Most Lenormand decks keep to a rectangular format and a restrained visual tradition. The Shadow Night Raven Lenormand breaks from that on two counts: the cards are hexagonal, and the imagery is darker and more graphically deliberate than most decks in the genre.

GoGo Studio, founded on 1 June 2022, built this deck around the raven as a cross-cultural symbol of awareness, transition, and what remains hidden. That reading runs through every card: deep red fields, black backgrounds, and gold foil accents that appear on the cards themselves as well as on the packaging.

What you see and feel

The cards measure 80 by 90 mm and are printed on 400 gsm double-sided coated cardstock with a matte slip-coat varnish and an air-cushioned finish that makes them feel smooth without being slippery. The hexagonal format sits naturally in the hand, though it takes a short adjustment period if you are used to standard rectangular cards. The packaging is a rigid base-and-lid box with specialty paper lining, a ribbon pull, and an EVA foam insert that holds the cards securely in place.

Lenormand system, new shape

The Lenormand system reads differently from tarot: cards are interpreted in combinations and rows, where the meaning of two adjacent cards shapes the reading. This deck contains 45 cards, meaning it goes beyond the classic 36-card Lenormand set. The included guidebook is small and offers limited content - anyone new to the Lenormand system will need a separate reference alongside it. For readers already familiar with the system, the guidebook works as a brief reference.

The hexagonal shape is not a stylistic choice for appearances: cards that share six edges make layout patterns possible that a rectangular grid simply cannot produce.

About the creator

GoGo Studio was founded on 1 June 2022. The name means 'two dogs' in Chinese, taken from the two golden retrievers belonging to the studio's members: XiuXiu and Mika. The studio focuses on card deck design with close attention to visual language and material quality.
